Do I need to attend all the modules to be certified?

Why do we need Certified Aftercare Specialists™?
Funeral homes are the first stop on the bereavement journey. Providing aftercare services is a natural extension of the funeral industry, and an important opportunity for funeral professionals to build client relationships. Certified Aftercare Specialists™ eliminates the need for funeral homes to outsource support services.

Can embalmers and other funeral staff become certified?
Yes. Any funeral professional who is interested in providing aftercare services may earn certification.

What do Certified Aftercare Specialists™ learn?
The innovative curriculum provides comprehensive orientation in grief education based on the principles of critical incident stress management. The cutting-edge interactive modules offer practical knowledge and a solid foundation for understanding all aspects of grief, how to mitigate the effects of emotional trauma, and a comprehensive toolbox of healing modalities to offer clients.

How does a Certified Aftercare Specialist™ benefit the funeral home?
With cremation on the rise, funeral homes are looking for innovative ways to maintain client relations. As part of a funeral home, a Certified Aftercare Specialist™ will be equipped to facilitate both one-on-one support along with support groups. Certified specialists will also be able to conduct debriefings in the event of traumatic community events. These outreach efforts provide critical support, and help strengthen both community and family ties for funeral homes. People will likely remember these outreach efforts next time they need funeral services for a loved one.

Does IGI provide marketing materials available upon certification?
Yes. IGI offers a full menu of turnkey aftercare products designed to help you build client and community relationships.
